The U.S. oil rig count was up for the second week in the row. Drillers added 2 in the week to June 1, bringing the total count up to at 861. That was the eighth time drillers added rise in the past nine weeks.

The latest round of talks between China and United States ended in Beijing with no mention of any specific new agreements between the two countries. "To implement the consensus reached in Washington, the two sides have had good communication in various areas such as agriculture and energy, and have made positive and concrete progress," China’s news agency said on Sunday, adding details would be subject to "final confirmation by both parties". "The achievements reached by China and the United States should be based on the premise that the two sides should meet each other halfway and not fight a trade war," it said. "If the United States introduces trade sanctions including raising tariffs, all the economic and trade achievements negotiated by the two parties will be void." There was no immediate comment or statement from the U.S. delegation or from Ross himself.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Force, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday in Moscow, as the two discussed cooperation, and signed a new, wide-ranging, strategic partnership.
