U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that a raid by U.S. special forces in northwest Syria had killed Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Trump said Baghdadi, who had led the jihadist group since 2010, killed himself by detonating a suicide vest after fleeing into a dead-end tunnel as U.S. forces closed in.

The U.S. Trade Representative's office and China's Commerce Ministry said after a high-level telephone discussions on Friday that the countries are "close to finalizing" some parts of a trade agreement  with talks set to continue further.

Chinese custom data showed on Friday that Saudi Arabia has maintained its position as the largest crude oil supplier to China. Data from the General Administration of Customs showed Saudi oil arrivals reached about 1.74 mil bpd in September. This was lower than the 1.89 mil bpd in Aug and nearly double the 0.92 mil bpd from a year ago.
