Gas Separation Plant (GSP) |
| |
| PTT is the largest operator of gas separation plants in Thailand. PTT’s gas separation plant unit 1 was operated in 1985, with unit 2 to 5 coming up later on. PTT’ gas separation plant unit 1, 2, 3 and 5 are located in Rayong and have production capacity of 390, 290, 390 and 530 MMSCFD respectively. Unit 4 is located in Kanhom, Nakhon Srithammarat and has production capacity of 170 MMSCFD in accordance with Kanhom power plant’s demand. Should the demand rise in the future, production capacity of gas separation unit 4 will increase to 1,770 MMSCFD. PTT continuously improves production capability of the gas separation plants. |

Apart from the existing gas separation plants, PTT is having another two projects on construction in Rayong. The two new plants are the ethane separation plant (ESP) and the gas separation plant unit 6. The ethane separation plant’s purpose is to improve production of the gas separation plant unit 2 and 3 which results to ethane separation capability. The gas separation plant unit 6 has the production capacity of 800 MMSCFD. Both projects encourage development of petrochemical industry and production of liquefied natural gas (Cooking Gas) in response of the domestic demand. This creates value add to the natural gas from the Gulf of Thailand and utilize natural resources
at its maximum value. As expected, both projects will be commercially launched by the second quarter of 2010.
The production capacity of PTT’s gas separation plant will increase to 2,640 MMSCFD.
