PTT Research and Technology Institute (PTT RTI) undertakes a wide range of research, while determining research strategic planning and management. Its extensive research areas include new technologies; product development of petroleum and petrochemical; alternative energy; product applications and its environmental impacts as well as business research and advisory services. In doing so, value adding creation and innovation are highlighted to serve PTT Group’s business needs in terms of technical services, with an emphasis on keeping abreast of technological trends, analysis & testing as well as product & process development.
All PTT RTI’s dedicated and competent executives, researchers and supporting staff members, make a great contribution to the outstripped academic recognition and success of the institute whereby various innovations and beneficial research have been carried out. While, fostering a technology base, PTT RTI is moving towards “Technology Center” to be capable of serving as “Solution Provider & Consultancy” in fulfilling PTT Group’s business requirements so as to achieve the leading role in quality, safety and environment management. By all means, PTT RTI conducts its R&D activities with regard to the optimum efficiency of applications; reduction of production costs; competitive marketing efficiency; research for innovative products in response to state energy policies for optimum benefits of the nation and all concerned.

Biofuel production technology, e.g. ethanol, biodiesel, synthetic diesel (or Bio-Hydrogenated Diesel: BHD) derived from vegetable oil, and other fuels derived from biomass as fossil fuel substitutes

PTT RTI’s Research Facilities :
PTT RTI’S highly-sophisticated research facilities were designed by the two world-recognized institutes namely Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), U.S.A., which was responsible for Engine Test Laboratory design , and Beicip-Franlab, France, for the chemical laboratories’. Over a decade, PTT RTI’s potentiality and capabilities on research and development, have been continuously heightened. As a result, the institute becomes one of the region’s premier R&D organization with the most advanced and fully-equipped facilities in accordance with PTT’s leading role in quality, safety, health and environment.
Initially, PTT RTI occupied 52 rai (20.5 acre) (from total 75 rai) (29.6 acre) of land in Wangnoi District, Ayutthaya Province, Thailand, to locate its office, laboratory and utility buildings. Subsequently, Bio-Hydrogenated Diesel Pilot Plant l, and Hydroprocessing Pilot Plant, were situated. PTT RTI’s Laboratory Buildings include :

With the perfect vision of PTT RTI’s management teams coupled with relentless efforts and high capabilities of researchers and staff members in conducting the whole spectrum of R&D activities, the full-fledged PTT RTI is capable of supporting PTT Group’s businesses in commercial production of energy and eco-friendly products with high and suitable technologies. Consequently, PTT RTI’s next phase of land expansion of 118 rai (46.6 acre), will accommodate “PTT Innovation Park”consisting of a pilot plantation of renewable crops; Gio-Science core sample laboratories & Gio-Science laboratories; advanced engine laboratories; pilot plants and PTT ICT’s Disaster Recovery Center.
