Utilization of vetiver for erosion control and slope stabilization along the Yadana Gas Pipeline Right of Way in Thong Phaphumi, Kanchanaburi Province. Successfully, the vetiver stabilized the soil and helped local trees grow, thereby helped bringing back the forest to resume to its natural state. Due to a remarkable result, in 1999, PTT won the King of Thailand Vetiver Awards under the promotion and development category in Thailand. In addition, PTT achieved the Vetiver Network Awards for Engineering/Infrastructure Protection at the Third International Conference on Vetiver in China in 2003.
The vetiver grass cultivation program with the Royal Project Foundation A vetiver working committee of the Royal Project Foundation, in which PTT joined, approved to undertake a total of 22 vetiver projects during 2003-2006 which required a budget of Baht 63,608,090. The project brought about several research works in addition to the promotion work on vetiver plantation for soil and water conservation and the protection together with an improvement of poor soil having low nutrient due to the soil erosion at different slopes covering an area of 5,573 rai and one ngarn. The vetiver was also planted on road shoulders and other routes covering a distance of 63.91 kilometers with 22,219,408 planted saplings. Around 1,000 farmers participated in the project.
Additionally, the project of vetiver promotion to conserve soil and water of Huay Kha Yeng, Kanchanaburi Province, one of the projects that PTT worked together with the Royal Project Foundation, was granted The King of Thailand’s Certificate of Excellence for the distinct work on promotion and The Vetiver Network Certificate of Technical Excellence Class 2, Bio - engineering and Extension at the Fourth International Vetiver Conference in Venezuela in 2006. |

| The Vetiver Grass Cultivation Program to Honor HM the King on the Auspicious Occasion of the Sixtieth Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne (2006) |
In collaboration with various organizations, PTT organized the Vetiver Grass Cultivation Program to honor HM the King on the auspicious occasion of the Sixtieth Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne. The project was aimed at promoting vetiver nationwide in order to restore richness of soil and improve well-beings of all subjects according to royal intentions. The contests were held to follow his majesty who concerns on his subjects and wishes to see them apply the vetiver technology effectively. |

| The development and Campaign on using of Vetiver Grass under the Royal Initiatives Project (2007) |
In 2007, the vetiver cultivation projects of PTT were improvised. Namely, the project undertaken by the Royal Foundation and the Vetiver Grass Cultivation Program to honor HM the King were combined and turned to “The Vetiver Promotion and Campaign according to the royal initiatives to correspond with the Vetiver Promotion and Campaign on using vetiver according to the royal initiatives No.4 (2007-2011) of the Office of the Royal Development Projects Board or RDPB. Meanwhile PTT is dedicated to disseminating vetiver information and vetiver cultivation and promotion as well as organizing the contest on vetiver. All these will help realize the royal intentions of development and campaign on using vetiver to conserve soil and water continuously and effectively. The outcome of the project will reap fullest benefit for the land and water resources of Thailand. |
