  • Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Iraq  reported their first new coronavirus cases on Monday. All of the infected people had been in Iran. Iran has now raised its toll from the disease to 12 dead and 61 infected. In Italy, at least 7 people have died and the number of confirmed cases jumped from three on Friday morning to at least 229 by Monday evening.
  • Saudi Aramco’s Chief Executive Officer Amin Nasser said on Monday that his company is launching the biggest shale gas development outside of the United States to boost domestic gas supply and end the burning of oil at its power generation plants.  "A new shale revolution is taking place (in Saudi Arabia), it's commercial and we are using seawater," in the fracking process, Nasser said. The new shale gas development would help the country to reduce burning an average of 800,000 barrels per day of crude and fuel for electricity he added.
  • Eastern Libya’s lawmakers controlled by military commander Khalifa Haftar said on Monday that they would not participate in Wednesday’s peace talks with politicians allied to the internationally recognised government as the U.N. Libya mission, UNSMIL,  had approved only eight of their 13 delegates. The United Nations had planned to bring together lawmakers from both sides of Libya's conflict to end the almost year-long fighting over Tripoli.
