The World Health Organization said on Thursday that all countries need to prepare to combat the coronavirus. With new infections reported around the world now surpassing those in mainland China, World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said even rich nations should prepare. "No country should assume it won't get cases, that would be a fatal mistake, quite literally," Tedros said, pointing to Italy, where 17 people have died in Europe's worst outbreak.

Iran's state-controlled media reported on Thursday that the country’s Vice President Masoumeh Ebtekar has tested positive for the new coronavirus and been placed under quarantine. Iran said on Thursday its death toll from coronavirus had risen to 26, the highest number outside China, and the total number of infected people now stood at 245. South Korea’s Korea Centers for Disease Control & Prevention said there were another 505 additional COVID-19 infections, the largest daily jump since the first confirmed infection on January 20th, as the United States issued a new warning against travel to the Asian nation.
