         5G technology is now deployed to increase the capability of drone for sustainable urban development. For the first time in the country, the opportunities are now offered to those interested in testing for research work. Special privileges of long-term business development will be offered as it is a key mechanism in the development of Wang Chan Valley into an innovative city with scientific, technological infrastructure and conductive environment to become a New S-Curve industry that will drive the economy of Thailand in the future as planned. 

          Mr. Auttapol Rerkpiboon, President and Chief Executive Officer, PTT Public Company Limited (PTT) disclosed that Wang Chan Valley Development Project for the Eastern Economic Corridor Innovation Zone located at Pa Ruea Nai Sub-district, Wang Chan District, Rayong Province, on an area of 3,454 rai, is the PTT project requiring cooperation from all sectors. It seeks to promote the research and innovation that can be turned into new businesses according to the concept of Powering Thailand's Transformation to enhance competitiveness and drive the country through changes in order to develop society and enhance the quality of life of Thai people. Therefore, PTT has cooperated with both public and private partners: Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT); Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC); National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA); Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC), True Corporation Public Company Limited (TRUE); Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS); and Total Access Communication Public Company Limited (dtac) to deploy 5G which is a key technology to develop business and innovation. 

        Mr. Wittawat Svasti-xuto, Chief Technology and Engineering Officer, PTT added that the 5G x UAV SANDBOX project in Wang Chan Valley area invites interested parties from every sector to test various innovations which will increase the potential of data transmission speed for a faster response. Currently, some of various 5G use cases include UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and flight management. PTT and partners have developed the infrastructure and technology as follows: 

• CAAT supports the allowance of the Wang Chan Valley area to fly drones for testing by ensuring the convenience of testing as well as granting permissions to be performed differently from certain conditions.
• NBTC manages and allocates frequency for maximum benefit and supports local 5G testing for commercial use.
• NSTDA, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation as a manager of the Eastern Economic Corridor Innovation Zone (EECi) facilitates the utilization of UAV Sandbox so that it will be successful to promote technology, skills and knowledge of flying drones to interested target groups.
• AIS together with VISTEC test and develop drone engineering to increase the efficiency of asset maintenance.
• TRUE tests and develops surveillance drones that control and connect to transmitted and received data in real time through True 5G intelligent network to ensure the security of the area.
• dtac, develops 5G smart surveillance cameras for remote control and high definition data transmission after the tests to provide fast operation and clear images.

           PTT invites interested parties to develop and use the ecosystem of sharing infrastructure and technology to maximize the benefits of new business development. The project participants will receive special privileges from the Board of Investment for the long-term business development, including exemption of corporate income tax for a maximum of 13 years; exemption of tax on machinery and raw materials; income tax for Individuals at 17% which is the lowest in Asia; smart visas for professionals and families; area for relaxation of regulations for making innovation (Regulatory Sandbox) and a one-stop investment service center to facilitate investors.
