Bangkok, September 2, 2022  Mr. Noppadol Pinsupa Chief New Business and Infrastructure Officer, PTT Public Company Limited (middle), Mr. Worawat Pitayasiri  President and Chief Executive Officer, Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited (left) and Mr. Philip Bernard Senior Vice President Global HDD Assembly & Backend Operation, Western Digital Storage Technology (Thailand) Limited (WD) (right) have announced their cooperation in studying renewable energy development and application guidelines for using electricity in the production processes of WD factories in Thailand, which is a leading global service provider of data infrastructure and hard disk drive products. This collaborative initiative consists of an evaluation of opportunities for procurement of renewable energy from multiple sources for WD through new electricity purchase contracts under the ERC Sandbox Project, Phase 2, which supports renewable energy trading development through the Third Party Access (TPA) Project. Permission will be granted to third parties who are able to use or connect as well as sell or buy electricity through the electricity network systems, which will be launched for service provision in the future. The cooperation also includes feasibility studies on the purchase and sale of renewable energy and carbon-related certificates via digital platforms. This is considered a key step in cooperation at the national level to develop an energy technology management model and accelerate the use of renewable energy in the industrial sector, upgrading standards for production efficiency which can minimize environmental impacts and serve as an environmental commitment for a low-carbon society.
