PTT Innovation Institute engages in research and development (R&D) of innovations involving petroleum, petrochemical, and energy products in support of PTT Group. Its scope of work ranges from formulation of directions and research planning; technological investigation; product analysis, testing, and development; research on processes and transport, environmental technology; and application supporting cost reduction, productivity, and innovation leading to commercial business extension for the group's market competitiveness.
The institute strives for excellence in technology and innovation in the drive toward an "Innovation Center" and a "Solution Provider and Consultancy", both perceived as key mechanisms for driving PTT Group's leadership with products that are of high quality, safety, and environmental friendliness. It meets state energy policy, producing the best interests of the people and the country.
Milestones
| 1981 : | The Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT) formed the "Research and Development Department" to engage in research investigation, testing, and development of PTT's assorted products for full application while duly preserving the environment. |
| 1983 : | The department underwent management restructuring into the "Research and Development Center", Thailand's first high-capability center for petroleum and petrochemicals. |
| 1997 : | The center was upgraded into the "PTT Research and Technology Institute" with a wider scope of work to raise its caliber to support PTT Group's businesses, expand technological development potential, and create products that are outstanding in quality and green. |
| 2018 : | The institute was restructured and renamed "PTT Innovation Institute" to meet the focused mission of innovation creation and value addition for the corporation's sustainable growth. |
